CopyThe article describes in detail the results obtained in the course of an empirical study of the level of empathy and personal characteristics of medical residents in the specialties "Infectious Diseases" and "Emergency Medical Care". An analysis of the professionally-significant qualities of a medical worker was realized, among which empathy and communicative competence of a doctor are important.
These individual psychological indicators generally affect the effective therapeutic interaction in the "Doctor-patient" dyad. The study involved resident physicians of the first and second years of study in the specialties "Infectious Diseases" (26 people) and "Emergency Medical Care" (24 people) of the FSBEI HE "Astrakhan State Medical University" of the Ministry of Health of Russia in the amount of 50 people. An empirical study was conducted in December 2022. The authors found that the personal properties of residents of the specialty "Infectious diseases" are: introversion, sensory, logic (thinking type), rationality.
For medical residents of the specialty "Ambulance" personal properties are: extraversion, intuition, emotionality, irrationality. A low level of empathic abilities was revealed in residents of the specialty "Infectious Diseases", which, of course, reduces communicative competence. The average level of empathy was found in residents of the specialty "Emergency Medical Care". The results of the study served as the basis for organizing a program of psychological and pedagogical support for medical workers. The authors prove that the organization of psychological and pedagogical support for medical residents will allow to form the competencies necessary for medical residents for successful professional activity.
