Environmental education of schoolchildren in the system of additional education in the 1990–2000's.

Abstract

Environmental enlightenment of the younger generation in the system of additional education is an urgent task facing the modern pedagogical community. The search for solutions to this problem that are optimal for today reveals the need for a historical and pedagogical reconstruction of the previous ecological and educational experience, which reflects the general logic of the development of approaches to the formation of ecological culture of children and adolescents in Russia with its inherent successes and difficulties.

The purpose of the article is to extract the available information in the field of the organization of Russian additional environmental education in 1990–2000 and present it as an integral theoretical construct, as well as in its pedagogical interpretation. The author analyzes the key directions of the development of additional environmental education, important events of that period, provides examples from the ecological and pedagogical practice of different Russian regions, identifies and formulates problems, the unresolved nature of which had a restraining effect on the development of extracurricular environmental education of children.

The article is intended for researchers of the problem of environmental education and education of schoolchildren, and can also be used in the process of ecological and pedagogical training of future teachers.
