Abstract

The success of an individual's self-education depends crucially on the corresponding universal competence, i.e. readiness for self-education. The authors of this article present primary models of readiness for self-education, as well as methods of its diagnosis. When identifying the criteria of the behavioral component of this competence, the authors of this article took into account its inter-connection with academic and professional mobility, and the process of self-education – with formal education.

The theoretical significance of the research results lies in the possibility of further understanding of the phenomenon of self-education (especially the factors of its success in the modern world), the practical significance lies in the possibility of using it in pedagogical monitoring systems. Research methods: analysis of scientific psychological and pedagogical literature and best practices in the formation of universal competencies, modeling, methods of qualimetry, multiparametric analysis of systems, method of deduction.

Methodological foundations of the research: competence-based, activity-based, systemic, metasystem, personality-oriented, sociological, probabilistic-statistical, qualimetric and information-cognitive approaches.
